Javascript Menu. DHTML Menu.

  • You can set the size of the menu in pixels, percent or other units. The menu may have an absolute or relative position (it can be inserted into the table).

Q: The menu has a problem with newlines. The menu builds correctly (layout ok) but when pressed on the button nothing happens

At some point, in the DHTML menu, we have the following in the javascript:

 ["|Print HTML","javascript:alert('HTML print: Only the 7 most recent orders on the screen \n will be printed because of space limitations on paper.');printResult('4'); ","","", ,"_parent",,] ]

As you can see we have a newline (\n) between the words "screen" and "will". But when we click on the button nothing happens. If we remove the newline and we click on the button then we first get the alert box. After pressing the OK button the function printResult is called.

Is there any way for us to still use the newline character in the menuItems variable?

This can be easily reproducible. That's why I haven't made an example.

Q: There seems to be a "glitch" when I use Firefox.
I have rebuilt the page twice but I always end up with themenu floating to the left, instead of under the main menu (the second or third mouseover will correct the issue). Also, sometimes I have to mouseover twice before the submenu comes up (in I.E.).

I have validated...however I wondered if there could be a conflict in the javascripting (yours and mine). Any suggestions?


A: The reason is in your <!DOCTYPE>.

Try to specify units in "px".

It's necessary to specify exact value for Mozilla browsers. It helpsto position menus correctly.

You can also try to set the following parameter:
  var dm_writeAll=1;


Q: I'm trying the deluxe menu and I'm positively impressed.

But now I'm trying to simply use javascript to add some properties to my menu.

I modified the dynamic to 1

and I get only one error in the javascript monitor telling me:

menuInd - index of a menu on a page, >= 0. (you have written menuInd=1, but if you have one menu on your page you should write 0).
You also have written itemStyleInd=1, but you have only one style in your menu. So you should write "0" or "-1".


Q: I appreciated your prompt response.  However, if I set the exact height for easy tabs content, certain tab's content will not show up fully.  We need to have every tab has different height in this site.  Do you know why IE 7 doesn't behavior properly but IE 6 does?  Can you provide a work around for me ASAP?

A: In that case you should delete height parameter at all from yourstyles.
